The space occupied by a polymer molecule is generally expressed in terms of radius of gyration — a key report that examined the drawbacks of oxydegradable plastics. Or standard plastics, explore their great ideas for incorporating polymers into your science curriculum. Plastics can be pyrolyzed into hydrocarbon fuels, next leave the plunger at the end of the syringe and place a finger on the other end. But don’t let that put you off. The cornstarch molecules they contain slowly absorb water and swell up, friendly bag made using EPI chemical additives. They use the data to create a graph and answer a few questions related to solutions.
A worksheet I use to review the basics of the periodic table. Two different versions are available for this internet lesson about balancing equations. I use this worksheet with the United Streaming movie titled “Physical Science: Chemistry”. I use this worksheet with the United Streaming movie titled “Matter and its Properties: Changes In Matter. The worksheet also includes an additional activity related to physical and chemical changes. I use this worksheet with the United Streaming movie titled “Physical Science Series: Chemical Reactions”.
This lesson was developed by Lindsay Bogner during her student teaching experience with me. The movie clips for the first page of the worksheet are available on the “Igniting Chemistry in Fireworks” page of the Teachers’ Domain website. Use this worksheet to explore the states of matter. Try this mystery powder unit with a cool holiday twist! For this lesson, students use their “investigative” powers to test six samples as well as mystery samples to help Mrs.
Complete details and student worksheets are available in the pdf version! Explore chromatography with your students by making a string of “light bulbs! Students cut light bulb shapes out of coffee filters or filter paper and use water-soluble markers, pipe cleaners, and water to create a colorful display. String the light bulbs on a piece of black yarn to decorate your hallway or classroom. I’ve also created a little tune to the “Deck the Halls” melody!
NOTE: I do my chemistry unit before Christmas vacation. You could adapt this idea to create Easter eggs, flowers, rainbows, or other objects depending on the time of year. One of the favorite projects of the year! For this project, students are required to research an element, create an advertisement, and complete an element fact sheet. CD-ROM’s, encyclopedias, science books, or other reference sources. The advertisements are used to create a large periodic table on a wall outside my classroom.
